Refurbishment Architect of the Year 2013 Winner:

refurb_Peter Barber

Peter Barber Architects

In recent years, Peter Barber Architects has refurbished several significant listed buildings, each project a historic opportunity to safeguard a beautiful but neglected local landmark. The Employment Academy, Peckham and Endell Street are two examples of Victorian civic buildings which had fallen into years of neglect or under-use.

The judges said “This category is about every day building and refurbishment is 90% of an architects work. Peter Barber is an architect who really understands the spirit of the building he’s dealing with and his passion comes across with lots of ideas all coexisting together”
